The Gossip Girl series started out as a guilty pleasure read for me, but I've recently realized how problematic it is.Yet again, this story was completely unrealistic. It's truly setting irrational expectations for its target audience which is young teenagers. I'm importing a lot of these reviews from my blog, so these are from the point at which I read these books. This was the first Gossip Girl book I read, and I went on to read the first book within a week of reading this one, so I must have liked it more than it sounds here:This book wasn't very good, but I still read it in pretty much one sitting. The most surprising thing about it wasn't the sex (a lot of sex was alluded to, but no one actually had any) but how much the characters smoked. They



It would be an absolute lie if I told myself that these books weren't terribly written and executed but the individual character's storylines just drag me in. Even though I believe this series could be collected into about 3 or 4 books, each one compels me to continue.
