A mysterious house harbors an unimaginable secret. . . .

It’s wartime, and the Carver family decides to leave the capital where they live and move to a small coastal village where they’ve recently bought a home. But from the minute they cross the threshold, strange things begin to happen. In that mysterious house there still lurks the spirit of Jacob, the previous owners’ son, who died by drowning.

With the help of their new friend Roland, Max and Alicia Carver begin to explore the suspicious circumstances of that death and discover the existence of a mysterious being called The Prince of Mist—a diabolical character who has returned from the shadows to collect on a debt from the past. Soon the three friends find themselves caught up in an adventure of sunken ships and an enchanted stone garden, which will change their lives forever.

Assessment Out Of Books The Prince of Mist (Niebla #1)
See more of my book reviews on my blog, Literary FlitsThis young adult horror story was Zafon's first published novel and it reads like a classic adventure tale similar to those I remember from my early teens. The unidentified setting was originally intended to be southern England. Its descriptions are detailed enough for me to be easily able to envisage the immediate surroundings of the village and coastline, while remaining vague enough on the regional location that the book could be imagined

2nd re-readPrvá veta:Posledná veta: Goodreads Challenge 2020: 1. kniha1st read:chills and chills:-) so good written... still don't understand how he does it but Zafon definitely rules:-) every book is a fascinating story of characters enthralling and so close to everyone's heart... you just breathe in every word and page. This tiny book should be first literary try of Mr Zafon and even though it's many years ago when it saw the first right of the day it's fresh, easy to read and most engaging

Another read I was pleased with. I stumbled up this book at the library and I recognized the author's name. So, I took it home. I didn't even realize it was Carlos Ruiz Zafón's first book. That was a pleasant surprise because it doesn't feel like it's his first novel. The book is written so well; written as if it's by a veteran writer. It's short but it's filled with action and suspense. You'll want to keep reading until you unravel the mystery of what's happening in this village by the beach.

Original read: June 2012Re-read: January 2016Third Read: July/August 2018High praises to the narrator Jonathan Davis.. he did a wonderful job with the narration, specially with Kane. The sound effects add a creepy factor to the story at times.. one part for me especially had me looking over my shoulder to make sure Kane wasn't behind me! (Even on third read)Would love to see more of Kane again one day *crosses fingers*The interview at the audiobook's end was a plus as well:).----Some samples of

Book 21 of 2018 : "The Prince of Mist " by Carlos Ruiz Zafron. This has been sitting on my shelf for a very long time .It was bought during a period when I was overwhelmed with "The Shadow of the Wind" and wanted to read all of Zafron's work. This is his debut novel and the writing shows that ,but it is still a good read for middle grade and it is not a surprise that it was initially published as a YA novel. The story is horror based and reminded me of IT .We have a group of kids trying to kill an

This was creepy and scary but wonderful. My only regret was that I statrted reading it in the night. ( had to sleep with the light on ; ))Moving unto The Midnight Palace by Mr Zafon I'm hoping to finish most of his works by the first week in April.Actual ratings: 3.75

3.5 stars. In an infinite universe, there were too many things that escaped human understanding. Initial Final Page Thoughts.Um so no one thought to ring the police or tell any grown-ups what just happened? Were just going to look back on it as if it was just a crazy summer mad-cap adventure? UmHigh Points.Max. Ive been acquainted with a lot of Maxs recently and I have to say its a good name. Beach houses. Roland. Alicia. Cats in wardrobes. Genuinely creepy. Beautiful writing, seriously this
