I don't consider myself a dedicated fan of fighting manga, but this book is truly exceptional. I like some of the one-shot stories that didn't make it to the anime, but I can understand why they were left on the cutting room floor, so to speak. Also, it's fun to see how some of the early plot points got Frankensteined together in the adaptation process.

I had only a vague recollection of this series and thought I'd check out the manga expecting some crazy shonen action and instead there was very little action but it was really touching and I blubbered like an idiot reading it. 5 stars.

Yuyu Hakusho is one of the more unique manga I've read. The story flowed really well, even though the setting chopped and changed often. The main character was likable, but was honestly my biggest problem with the series. It was hard to fault the writing or the book itself, but the main character was a bit annoying at times.Probably the best start to a series I've read so far.
