Interpretation As Books

Straight to my 'Favorites list'.Ahlam Mosteghanemi, you're brilliant.Your words are intoxicating, I highlighted so many passages. The storyline, though it went in a slow pace, your words, poems and dialogues made up for it.I went through an emotional turmoil reading it, by the time I was finishedI was emotionally and mentally exhausted and I enjoyed every second of it.The first novel I read by you, definitely not the last.i guess this is one of the books that "aren't bad in anyways, they just aren't for me", as an algerian i thought i should be reading for ahlam, though i have already read her most famous book "الأسود يليق بك", which i received as a gift... still don't feel like i want to read more of her books, and to be honest i feel bad for saying such things on my review, i mean her writing style is perfect, her language is amazing, i find her way of choosing suitable words and phrases beyond perfect... it is
mmmm - beautifully written book about hopeless love, the value of being a revolutionary and the dismay when your revolution goes sour and the revolutionaries mostly end up becoming the oppressors .... it was really poetically written, harsh at times and tragic at times. I learnt loads more about the Algerian war, the links with other Arab 'freedom movements' (which presciently anticipated aged the Arab Spring events that swept across the Mediterranean). I had never heard of Constantine, its
Poetic and very much the Arabic style of writing ( it is after all a translation of an original Algerian novel). I think reading the book as an English reader it does come off long winded, full of cheese and omg Khaled can we see some action and get to the point now my friend 😂 .Knowing some of how the Arabic language works and reading it from that point of view I thought this was really a sweet book. I think love in the Arab culture takes time to grow and nurture. To put into words all the
Just finished reading "Memory In the Flesh" by Ahlam Mosteghanemi. As Algeria's most important female writer, she offers an insight into this former French colony from a unique perspective as the daughter of one of the heroes of the Algerian Revolution. As well as a different take than we would be offered by combatants on either side, her writings are a milestone as she is the first successful female novelist to write in Arabic (as my mastery of the language is virtually non-existent, I have had
Read this novel couple of years ago and it's one of the finest books I've ever read..I remember how I marked like hundreds of pages cause of the many quotes I just loved..Ahlam Mostaghanmi has her unique writing style,in her novels it feels like it's not about the story, it's about her way of telling the story, the language she uses, the way she describes it, magical!...I remember how she described Khaled's injury, how he felt abt his lost arm, so touching, and I remembered her description
Beautifuly written, however I did not enjoyed the love story. The narrator seems to be completely obsess with a young girl, the daughter of his friend. The narration is a reflexion of the obsessive thoughts he has about her. If you are not into romantic novels, do not even look at this book.
