After accidentally injecting himself with a serum made from the instructions scribed on a seven-thousand-year-old artifact John discovers he has new abilities and new blood-chilling enemies. He and his wife Jenny are soon running for their lives from the terrifying figures that will stop at nothing to protect the serum's seven-thousand-year-old secret and retrieve the artifact needed to finish their plans.
On the run and searching for answers they are thrown into a world of ancient secrets, esoteric mysteries and a clandestine underground race when they become trapped in a cavern deep under the ruins of ancient Babylon. Mythology and the ancients so often are viewed as apart from contemporary society. Authors have borrowed from them, reshaped them and repurposed them. The epic stories revisit these in their own format and style. Star wars for example was a contemporary restatement of the classical mythology of the Greeks and the Romans. The warriors journey is the essential story of most epic ancient and contemporary. S.E. Meyer has opened the doors directly on both the epic and the mythology by placing themA DNF book - I really thought this book was going to be a great choice for me. But, it turns out that I couldn't continue past the second chapter.I felt that the prologue was enough to keep me reading, but then chapter one dragged on and on. I found that some information was repeated, way too often, and in a manner that made it seem like the author was introducing it for the first (not the third) time. All in all, the premise of this book seemed great. There's a need for someone to go back and
EhDidn't really like the black stereotype.. Even if there were gangsters... They still speak regular English , not whatever 80s ebonics that was..
I couldnt put it down! From the moment I began reading Origins I was sucked in. The pacing of the plot and the believability of the characters that are present within them create an atmosphere within the novel which leave you craving for more. The amount of detail about ancient religions as well as the interweaving of facts from modern day religions also suggests the author has done a tremendous amount of background work in getting all the data. Did I mention he involves aliens in all of this? I
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's well written and engaging. This is part one and I'm definitely going to read the next one.Publisher's summary:John Mitchell's life in the small Midwestern town of Mill City Wisconsin is about to change forever. So I gave three stars to this book because I was feeling generous. The author needs to really invest time into proof reading or at the very least get a team of readers to do it for him. There were some many errors in this book that I started to read phonetically to try to ignore his inability to distinguish the difference between "your" and "you're".The story is really the strength of this book although it also drags on in some parts. It also gets a bit preachy but I was able to attribute that to
Great story line, however I believe it could have been written much better,
