#1 bestselling author Karen Kingsbury tells the heartwrenching story of Cody Gunner, a widower fighting for stability, and the woman who wants to help him trust again--even when trust is the most terrifying thing of all.Still aching over his wife's death, Cody Gunner can't bear the thought of also letting go of his Down's Syndrome brother, Carl Joseph. Cody wants his brother home, where he will be safe and cared for, not out on his own in a world that Cody knows all too well can be heartless and insecure. So when Carl Joseph's teacher, Elle, begins championing his independence, she finds herself at odds with Cody. But even as these two battle it out, they can't deny the instinctive connection they share, and Cody faces a crisis of the heart. What if Elle is the one woman who can teach Cody that love is still possible? If Cody can let go of his lingering anger, he might just see that sometimes the brightest hope of all lies just beyond the clouds.

I enjoy Karen Kingsbury quite a bit. She knows how to write an emotionally satisfying romance without compromising her Christian beliefs. This story, about a man and woman who each have a sibling with Down Syndrome, was educational and uplifting. I learned a lot about the syndrome and the dedicated people who work to increase other's awareness of the truly inspirational potential these special spirits have. This book reminded me of a cheesy lifetime movie!
After reading "A Thousand Tomorrows," I was so very excited to learn that there was a sequel the book that captured my attention and heart so completely. I had invested so much time, energy, and emotion into getting to know Cody Gunner and Ali Daniels -- not to mention falling in love with the love story that they shared -- so I could not wait to see the plans that God had for Cody's growth in his personal relationship with Jesus Christ and his future happiness. In my opinion this is the way Christian fiction should be done. Faith is sprinkled throughout but in a very relatable, not over the top way! And its a very sweet story! This is the story of Carl Joseph (CJ) and his brother Cody. CJ has Downs syndrome and Cody is a former bull rider. Codys wife had died 4 years earlier from cystic fibrosis and despite Cody giving her a lung, she was unable to survive. She was a rider too and finally Cody decides hes had enough of that life and its time to go back
Another amazing book by Karen Kingsbury! Couldn't put the book down!
A breathtaking sequel.
This is the second book in the Cody Gunner series. I didn't read the first one and everything is explained to the reader so you won't be lost with these characters. Cody was married to his wife and she passed away four years ago. Cody is still in mourning and misses his precious Ali everyday. He used to be a very famous bull rider. He had to give that up when he gave his wife one of his lungs. It didn't save her life but gave them a few more years together. Cody is now back home still trying to
