Completed something I never thought I would...read the Bible over the course of a year. The study and readings helped me realize that beyond being the word of God, the Bible is also an amazing cultural, historical, and literary work. I followed the YouVersion schedule - totally worth it if youre ready for a larger commitment. Daily readings include a devotional/explanation and require only 20-30 minutes a day.I read just the text of this 'quick study' bible. I bought this Bible used a few years ago--was thrilled to do so--because of the layout. It isn't always easy to find NASB Bibles that are a) in paragraph format instead of verse, verse, verse; b) in black letter and not red letter; c) in a font size that is easy on the eyes. This Bible is all three.I do LOVE the NASB translation. It is one of my top three translations of choice. I adore it really. It was a joy to read this one over the past few
Always Reading! Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
(view spoiler)[The Bible IS amazing. It is full of 'impossible' prophesies like the city of Tyre being destroyed and (if I remember correctly) it had recorded in it, information on the Assyrian Empire long before we even discovered ruins from Assyria.I find the prophesy on Tyre the most fascinating one (Ezekiel 26:3-21) where it says:"...therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Tyre, and I will bring many nations against you, like the sea casting up its waves. They will
Did you know most (if not all) serial killers come from religious families? Also, that this book consists of incest, bestiality, sexism, racism, and polygamy? Then goes and says "love one another"?This book repeatedly contradicts itself to the point of it being comical and repeatedly insults the intelligence of the reader. The characters were shoddy, I couldn't follow the plot, and the man character was so far-fetched I couldn't believe a word of it.Considering this was written over 100 years
Holy Bible: The tale of two gods. I have always been a fan of Old Testament god. He is the kind of fellow you can believe in. . . or else. Philistine's move into your neighborhood? Don't worry, the big guy has your back. He'll send his favorite son David to cut off two hundred of their foreskins and present them to the then king in exchange for stealing his wife. If that doesn't motivate you to convert to the bible's deity of choice, I don't know what will. The methods of retribution are
I don't understand much of what's written in this book...particularly the first half. In spite of that...this has been an interesting and even life changing read. It's a great deal like Tolstoy's War & Peace in that there are large sections of it that I'm tempted to skip over...but I keep getting rewarded as I plow through it. I find Jesus to be a most remarkable man and have come to believe in him as God. He surprised me with his kindness and willingness to sacrifice in the face a people
